NELA Gallery Night with Kiki and Gabe - Oct. 10
At tonight's 2nd Saturday Gallery Night, we enjoyed the second appearance of flautist Kiki (Satsuki Innami) at New Puppy, this time joined by Gabe on guitar.

Kiki was born and raised in a small town near Fukuoka, Japan, on Kyusyu, the southern-most island of Japan. She began studying flute when she was ten years old. Satsuki's teacher encouraged her to apply to the Walnut Hill School in Natick, Massachusetts, a highly distinguished private arts high school. She was accepted and excelled in her music classes. And learned to speak English.
She continued her studies at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and focused on traditional flute repertoire and Baroque music. She earned her Bachelor of Music in flute performance.
Following her interest in comtemporary music, Satsuki moved to California to study at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia. It was at CalArts that Satsuki learned to be more creative and free with her ideas. While at CalArts, she discovered her love of collaboration and helped organize an event that included dancers and a character animation film. Satsuki performed the music for the event along with several of her classmates. She earned her Masters Degree in 2008.
We'll be seeing Kiki again in November for a special concert.
