Michael Mikael

Michael Mikael is an L.A.-based artist whose repertoire of work includes jewelry design, graphic art, painting and these stone sculptures on display at reduxiture. Michael uses traditional stone tools to explore both the organic and the futuristic with found rocks. Michael explains the philosophy behind his work: "Matter has to serve as the expression of emotion and states of mind." Michael's work seeks to fundamentally expose the energies which dominate matter and spirit. The Heart of a Warlock is about the emotion of morose death itself. Rest Never Came Easy is about human movement.

Michael continues: "All the lines of force have to be in action; the traffic in the streets, the light rays coming from the windows and shining on the glossy hand-polished stones, and thus adding a spiritual quality to them respectively. Geometric forms and intensive contours are in perpetual interplay. The beholder is drawn into the vortex of this field of energies, which even includes transcendental virtues." Michael wants to move the viewer to the 4th and 5th dimensions with his work.
